The municipal Customs Department on Monday officially started pilot implementation of the automated customs management and supervision system on transit imported and exported goods at the Noi Bai International Airport.
Local enterprises have to spend around 28.6 million of working days equivalent to VND14.3 trillion (US$636 million) a year to complete administrative procedures for special check-ups, said Mai Tien Dung, minister and chairman of the Government Office.
Special inspection procedures on imported and exported goods do pose a major barrier for businesses as they account for up to 72 per cent of customs clearance time, officials conceded at a meeting held in Ha Noi on Monday.
